I've got the answer to my question. In fact,i should also set the wide default on the account to private, else it is visible and editable for all.

i have assign different users to different territories, i also have territory rules for automatically assigning accounts to those territories. But i do not have roles specified.
The problem i am facing right now is that, all the users ,even though they are not assign to a particular territory can see the accounts related to another territory. What other settings i need to restrict this.

Hi,

Very interesting article. I am thinking about implementing Territories for my company and was wondering if you would have some time to discuss your experience.
Thanks!

Hi,

Can a custom object in salesforce be linked to territories ?

I have a custom object in salesforce called salesorder which allows users to create salesorders. The issue is a user associated with a territory cannot view the records(salesorders) created by a user of the same territory though he has been assigned to the same territory. I have checked the rules and workflows and made sure that both the users have the same sharing rules.

I have been told that custom objects cannot be linked to territory management and the records created within a custom object cannot be segregated to users.

Any help in this regard will highly be appritiated.

Thanks
